Introducing Clenzi: Property Cleaning Management, Reimagined

The Problem We Set Out to Solve

Managing cleaning teams for short-let properties is chaos. Schedules in spreadsheets, communications via WhatsApp, quality checks on paper, invoicing in email threads. We talked to property managers running 50-200 units and heard the same frustration: existing tools are either too complex or too simple.

So we built Clenzi.

What Clenzi Does

Clenzi is a purpose-built cleaning management platform for property teams:

• Scheduling - drag-and-drop calendar with automatic conflict detection
• Team Management - assign cleaners by property, shift, or availability
• Quality Control - photo-based checklists and inspection workflows
• Real-time Tracking - know which properties are cleaned, in-progress, or pending
• Invoicing - automated billing based on completed jobs
• Client Portal - property owners see their units status in real-time

The Technical Stack

• Backend: NestJS with TypeScript - structured, testable, enterprise-grade
• Frontend: Next.js 16 - SSR for dashboard, SSG for public pages
• Database: MongoDB Atlas - flexible schema for varying property configurations
• Storage: Cloudflare R2 - cost-effective storage for inspection photos
• Payments: Paddle - handles global billing, tax, and compliance

Key Design Decisions

Mobile-first. Cleaners use phones on-site. Every workflow is optimized for one-handed mobile use.

Photo-first quality control. Instead of checkboxes, cleaners photograph completed work. Managers review remotely. This creates accountability.

Automation over manual entry. When a property books a checkout cleaning, Clenzi auto-generates the task, assigns the nearest available cleaner, and sends notifications.

Early Results

After 3 months with 5 property management companies:

• Scheduling time reduced from 2 hours/week to 15 minutes
• Quality check completion rate: 94% (up from 60% with paper)
• Invoicing errors: near zero (automated from completed jobs)
